The Sinag Arts Studio
A 400sqm creative studio space located near the Mandaluyong City Hall, The Sinag Art Space serves as a venue for rehearsals, theater workshops, performances and studio shoots.
The Rinko-gun Theater Company of Tokyo presents the Philippine premiere of “Philippine Bedtime Stories,” a Philippine-Japan collaborative stage production organized by the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and the Japan Foundation, Manila (JFM), on February 17 (Saturday), 7:00 pm, and February 18 (Sunday), 3:00 pm at the Sinag Arts Studio, 664 San Ignacio Street, Brgy. Plainview, Mandaluyong City; and on February 23 (Friday), 8:00 pm. February 24 (Saturday), 3:00 & 8:00 pm, and on February 25 (Sunday) at 3:00 pm at the CCP Tanghalang Huseng Batute (Studio Theater).
Directed by Toshihisa Yoshida, “Philippine Bedtime Stories” is a collection of five contemporary theatrical vignettes staged in the bedroom. They are “Walang Iwanan” by Rene Villanueva, “Isang Libong Tula pasa sa Dibdib ni Dulce” by Lallie Bucoy, “Ang Unang Aswang” by Rody Vera, “Single Brown Female” by Jose Victor Torres and “Ligaya sa Isang Pinoy Bar” by Japanese playwright Shungiku Uchida. All plays will be performed in Tagalog and Japanese, with subtitles in English.
The Filipino cast includes Rody Vera, Mailes Kanapi, Raye Baquirin, Angeli Bayani, Jojit Lorenzo and Marj Lorico. They will be performing with Japanese actors Yuko Miyamoto, Mari Nakayama, Kenjiro Kawanaka, Tenshi Kamogawa, Takashige Mukai and Hideyuki Sugiyama. Translation is by Mayumi Chinda and Saiko Kuwayama. Yoji Sakate provides the artistic direction.
