The Sinag Arts Studio
A 400sqm creative studio space located near the Mandaluyong City Hall, The Sinag Art Space serves as a venue for rehearsals, theater workshops, performances and studio shoots.
Master Class premiered on July 12 and continues from the 19th to the 22nd at 8 p.m. at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium of RCBC Plaza. Terence McNally’s 1996 Tony award-winning play about a master class with legendary grand dame Maria Callas is the perfect way to introduce yourself to opera.
Along with the play’s student characters, the audience learns as well about what it takes to be an opera singer as well as the stories behind classics such as Giuseppe Verdi’s interpretation of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Even more revealing are the insights into Callas’s great sacrifices for her art, the cruelty of critics and rivals as well as her tragic romance with billionaire Aristotle Onasis.
A contemporary story with many references to the rich history of opera as well as some well-loved operatic songs and funny moments, Master Class is the perfect way to whet your appetite for opera. As performed by Ms. Jay Glorioso, John Glen Gaerlan, Karla Gutierrez and Ana Feleo, it is both moving and engaging.
The set was designed by Gino Gonzales, lights by Shoko Matsumoto and costume by Zenaida Gutierrez.
