In many different spiritual traditions, including our own, as Filipinos indigenous to the archipelago, chant, as well as dance and other creative expressions are valid forms of intimation, prayer, and devotion. These are ways to connect with the divine; to enter sacred time and space; to be in the presence of the Holy Spirit.

At a time when wars continue to be waged between peoples in the name of God and religion; when the pursuit of material progress overshadows the pursuit of spiritual power; when natural disasters arising from human greed and ignorance threaten to destroy humanity and earth itself, we are reminded to take a step back, to breathe deep, to reflect upon our lives, to reconnect and seek guidance from the divine in each of us in every culture, in every language, in every voice
